Gotcha Day
Before we got our babies, we had to complete, certify, verify, etc all sorts of paperwork. You make things official with a red thumbprint seal.
It's rather sureal walking into your hotel room and seeing a crib. It finally hits home that you are going to be bringing home your baby!
Our friends, the Aberles, were the first family to receive their daughter, Greta.
Here is my baby! Poor Anna was so tired. All of the babies were wearing matching outfits and were very clean and healthy. We could not have asked for more!
We had a LID of 11/26 and our Gotcha Day was 8/22/05.
You are given "temporary custody" of your child for the first night. You will return the next to confirm that you still desire to adopt your child. This gave us another opportunity to meet the orphanage workers and ask questions. They gave each family a special gift, photos of the girls and a wall hanging. Sealing our adoption confirmation with a red footprint!
We also visited Cival Affairs the next day where we promised to love, never abandon, and provide an education for Anna.

Oh the memories! I was in China with you, I was the single mom traveling alone. I noticed you posted on my friend's blog (Journey to Luke) so I found your blog and started reading it. Aminah is doing well and I'm in the process of updating her blog. We are doing great and it is so hard to believe that it has been over 9 months since we traveled. It was great to "see" you and your family here on the blog.
Karri and Aminah
